Anslow Event 28th May

Image
Another great day out at Anslow for Midlands Carriagedriving Sunday 28 May saw another great day out at Midlands Carriagedriving’s One-Day Event, held at Anslow in South Derbyshire. Organised by chairman Paul Hart, ably assisted by his wife Ann and umpteen volunteers, Anslow’s ODE’s are proving inclusive and ideal for all aspects of driving trials. From the smallest equine to big horses and encompassing both abled and disabled humans, these events provide competition status without pressure and the opportunity to train as well as compete. Joanne Gadsby (Novice Horse) and Lucy Lee – driving the diminutive 17-year-old Maverick in Short Format Pony – were the only ones to achieve a double clear in cones while Mark Riley (Open Horse) produced a lovely dressage test for 45.62 penalties, best of the day. Also scoring under-50 were Joanne (47.60) and Chris Ainscough (48.09). (Left to Right: Lucy Lees, Joanne Gadsby, Mark Riley, Margaret Warmsby) Despite having a ‘Senior Moment’ in Obstacle 3,

New for 2023

Midlands Carriagedriving is enjoying a fresh new start to 2023!  Long-time club member Paul Hart has stepped up to take on the role of chairman after Dave Wheeldon recently resigned from the position. Dave had performed a sterling job but now feels it is time for him to stand aside. Paul has served many years on the Midlands’ committee and is an Open driver so has much experience and knowledge of the sport. As well as having a new chairman, the club’s welcomes some new committee members - Ruth Auton, Joanne Gadsby, Gemma Owens and Nicola Corby. They will help share the load of the current committee taking on areas like Entries Secretary and the Website.

Although his initial cones penalties of 27.0 counted towards his score, he then took Cody round again
